Upward
Upward offers an evangelistic sports ministry specifically designed for kindergarten through eighth-grade boys and girls that promotes salvation, character, and self-esteem in every child. Registration takes place in September & October; practices begin in November; and games take place on Saturdays in December, January, and February.
For 2023-2024:
Registration will begin 9/5/2023 and ends 10/17/2023.
- Early Registration is $90 and ends 10/2/2023.
- Regular Registration is $100 and will begin on 10/3/23 and end on 10/17/2024.
- Registration includes player pack, jersey, undershirt, and shorts.
Evaluations help us properly balance player skill on teams. This is not a try-out; every child is placed on a team. It is mandatory for every player to attend an evaluation. We do not honor any request to be on a team with a specific coach or another player.
Evaluation Dates:
- October 9th, 10th, and 12th
- Makeup evaluations on October 17th
Sportsmanship and competitiveness: Our K-5 – Elementary ages do not maintain league standings. Our Middle School leagues are governed by Alabama High School rules. Our Intermediate ages are transitional in nature preparing players for Middle School. We have had many children successfully transition from Upward to Middle School and High School teams.
We try to accommodate your family schedule by having only one hour of practice and one game each week.
In addition to teaching skills, our focus is ministering to children and their families. Our younger ages have a set substitution system where all players are allowed equal playing time and equal opportunity for improvement.
We encourage each player with recognition of a job well done and an award ceremony following every game.
Our season ends with an Awards Celebration on February 11, 2024 from 3:00-5:00 PM, where participants and parents are given an opportunity to respond to the Gospel.
